Austin Enjoy free: Your guide to free attractions in the city

Austin is one of the most prosperous cities, not just Texas, but the country. With more houses being built and people moving in, it is not surprising that many people are looking for things to do in Austin. If you are looking for a place to go or something to not break the budget, look no further than these free activities in and around Austin.

Texas State Capitol

The Texas State Capitol is a great place to visit at least once, especially if you have school children. The capital is located at 1100 Congress Ave. There are daily departures from Capitol and visits in the morning at the Governor's Mansion, all for free. On the Capitol grounds contain 22 acres with 17 buildings, as well as building Capitol itself.

Congress Avenue Bats

For this free activity, will have the opportunity of his visit from March to early fall. This park is located in the Barton Springs garden houses and 21 hectares of park. There are many theme gardens on the grounds, including romantic rose garden, butterfly garden and a Japanese garden. There is also a prehistoric gardens that reflect the past as a dinosaur roaming the grounds main during the Cretaceous period.

Blues on the Green

If you are a fan of the blues, you will enjoy this free concert series every summer. Sponsored by 107.1 KGSR Blues on the Green is normally held in Zilker Park (though 2009's festivities were in Waterloo Park because the projects construction). Local musicians like Marcia Ball, Los Lonely Boys and Jimmy Vaughan all part of the event in the past.

Hartman Foundation Concerts in the Park

During the months of May, the month of August, you can take this series of free concerts at the Hartman Concert Park. Classical music, pops, jazz Film and music are performed by sets of the Austin Symphony Orchestra.

Movies in the Park Place de la Republic

Foundation Austin Parks sponsors this event every summer at Republic Square Park. The films were projected onto a screen outdoors and residents are invited to bring their blankets, chairs and picnic tables. Films begin at dusk.
