The best way to get company sponsorship for a charity?
I have the intention to travel to Sri Lanka to summer volunteer teach IT skills for children and young adults. It is a journey that will require little funding for airfare and lodging, etc. One idea suggested is to approach companies and ask them for sponsorships. I was wondering if anyone has done this sort of thing before and if you have any advice. The general idea is that you could use a shirt with your brand or something. I would like the suggestions as well. Like some details, I'll try Microsoft first, because I'm teaching them about PC Windows and how to use programs such as MS Office (Word and Excel). Even if you helped organize a sponsorship for a larger event, including a company of its board will appreciated!
The point is that the firms sponsoring organizations registered nonprofit. You submit your application, using the header or nonprofit, including tax-exempt number and a list of what you need and why.
